About the Opportunity

The Casman Group of Companies is looking for an experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental Site Lead to join their team in Fort McMurray.

Reporting to the HSE Manager, the HSE Site Lead has the primary on-site role in preventing workplace accidents.  The aim of this role is to utilize professional judgment in assessing risk, reviewing risk, reviewing work practices, and determining the best practice to achieve compliance with regulatory standards.

More specifically, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide consistent feedback on job safety and assist in identifying issues for early resolution;
  • Lead and facilitate investigation and reporting of incidents;
  • Oversee and facilitate completion of JSAs and inspections;
  • Participate in and/or facilitate weekly safety meetings on site;
  • Oversee and support new employee orientations;
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Recommend improvements to HS&E tools, processes, policies, and training;
  • Mentor entry level safety personnel;
  • Work with staff and sub-contractors to facilitate the safe planning and performance of work; and
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and be aware of new safety initiatives.

In order to succeed in this role, a Certified National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or equivalent is required.  Having a professional safety designation, previous supervisory experience, and experience with HSE management systems would be an asset.

You will have industrial construction experience and have excellent knowledge of the concepts and principles of quality, health and safety, and environment.  The successful candidate will have a willingness to accept and understand the desired policies and procedures of the Casman Group of CompaniesThe Casman Group of Companies is seeking a self-motivated and adaptable candidate with strong report writing skills plus strong communication abilities.  Unfortunately, the Casman Group of Companies will not be providing relocation assistance.
