About the Opportunity
The Casman Group of Companies is looking for a two permanent full-time Health, Safety, and Environmental Advisors to join their team in Fort McMurray.
Reporting to the HSE Manager, the HSE Advisor has the primary role in facilitating the safe performance of work. The aim of this role is to utilize professional judgment in assessing risk, reviewing risk, reviewing work practices, and determining the best practice to achieve compliance with regulatory standards.
More specifically, the successful candidate will:
- Provide consistent feedback on job safety and assist in identifying issues for early resolution
- Participate in investigation and reporting of incidents
- Complete or facilitate hazard assessments and inspections
- Participate in and/or facilitate weekly safety meetings on site
- Support new employee orientations
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Recommend improvements to HS&E tools, processes, policies, and training
- Work with staff and sub-contractors to facilitate the safe planning and performance of work
- Participate in ongoing professional development and be aware of new safety initiatives.
In order to succeed in this role, 3 or more years of experience working in the oilsands industry required. Candidates who have completed or are working towards NCSO certification are preferred. Having, or pursuing, a professional safety designation (CRSP) would be an asset.
You will have and have a good working knowledge of the concepts and principles of quality, health and safety, and environment. The successful candidate will have a willingness to accept and understand the desired policies and procedures of the Casman Group of Companies. The Casman Group of Companies is seeking a self-motivated and adaptable candidate. Unfortunately, the Casman Group of Companies will not provide relocation assistance, flight or camp for this position.
